Global Asbestos Awareness Week is due to commence on the 1 April 2016. Global Asbestos Awareness Week was first championed by the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organisation (ADAO) whose global message is that asbestos is a known human carcinogen, there is no safe level of exposure, and asbestos must be banned. ADAO was started by individuals who had lost loved ones to the asbestos related cancer, mesothelioma, and they continue work with the public health organisations throughout the world to prevent exposure to asbestos. This year there are a number of events planned with the aim to spread awareness and educate the public about the dangers of asbestos.
